Sky Tower Wroclaw: Complete Guide, Tickets, Reviews, and Tips for the Best View in Poland (2026)

Wroclaw is a city of dwarves, historical bridges, and colourful squares. But towering above it all is one unmissable landmark – Sky Tower, Wroclaw. This controversial yet fascinating structure changes the game for any tourist wanting to see Poland from a bird’s-eye view.

In April, Verča and I went there to explore whether buying a ticket to the 49th floor is truly worth it, or if it’s just a tourist trap.

Spoiler: The view is priceless, but you need to know how to go about it to enjoy your visit stress-free.

Quick summary for the impatient

  • Location: About a 30-minute walk or a 5-minute tram ride from the centre (ul. Powstańców Śląskich 95).
  • Tickets: It’s best to buy them online in advance via GetYourGuide here. This will speed up check-in and secure your visiting day.
  • Main attractions: The fastest lift with a projection, the observation deck on the 49th floor, the bar and swing with a view, and an outdoor terrace.
  • Price: Adult approx. 53 PLN / 13 EUR, children discounted, and 60 PLN for a drink at the bar.
  • Accommodation: If you want the ultimate experience, stay directly in the building at Sky Tower Apartments – In The Sky.

Facts, history, and interesting points about Sky Tower

Before we dive into our personal experiences, let’s talk about what you’re actually looking at. Sky Tower is not just any skyscraper.

Height and construction

At 212 metres, Sky Tower is one of the tallest buildings in Poland (it held the record for a long time before being surpassed by Warsaw). The entire complex consists of three parts: the base (shopping centre), the residential tower, and a lower office building.

A history full of controversy

Construction began in 2007 under the direction of Polish billionaire Leszek Czarnecki. During the financial crisis, the project changed and even halted several times. Locals weren’t fond of it for a long time – the skyscraper stands in an area with significantly lower surrounding buildings, creating a unique (and for some, inappropriate) visual contrast. Today, however, it’s the most famous landmark in the city.

What can you find inside?

  • Shopping mall: The ground floor and first floors offer luxury boutiques as well as classic chains.
  • Kolejkowo: A huge model railway (a great tip for families).
  • Entertainment: A bowling centre, a billiard club, and a modern fitness centre.
  • Apartments: From the 20th floor upwards, you’ll find some of the most expensive residences in Wroclaw.

Our experience: A journey into the clouds at Sky Tower (step by step)

A minor hitch at the entrance

As we approached the building, we encountered a small hitch. The main entrance to the shopping centre appeared to be locked. The doors wouldn’t open, and the sensors didn’t respond. It turned out that the entrance we were standing at only opens from the inside.

Pro tip: Don’t panic if you encounter a “locked” door. There’s a constant bustle of people around the building where the Sky Tower is located, and someone exits every few seconds. Just wait for the doors to open or find one of the other three main entrances. It’s likely some temporary glitch or security measure, which we also encountered in April.

The lift ride that will make your ears pop

The entrance to the observation deck (Punkt Widokowy) has its own dedicated lift. This is where the real fun begins. The lift is extremely fast, and during the ride to the 49th floor (which takes less than a minute), you can genuinely feel the pressure change. Both Verča and I experienced ear-popping several times – just like on an airplane.

To make the journey feel shorter, a projection runs on one wall of the lift, visually preparing you for the height you’re ascending. It’s a small but very effective detail that turns an ordinary ride into an experience. Personally, I enjoyed watching the floor counter tick up – floor 20, 25, 30, 40, 49.

49th floor and a view of all of Silesia

As soon as the doors open, you exhale. The observation deck space is surprisingly large. Even though we were there when there were quite a few tourists, no one was bumping into anyone. The glass enclosure is well-designed, and you have the city laid out before you.

On a clear day, you can see:

  1. Old Town: The Town Hall and the tower of St. Elizabeth’s Church.
  2. Cathedral Island: Historic cathedrals.
  3. Centennial Hall: An iconic UNESCO World Heritage site.
  4. Mount Ślęża: A mystical peak on the horizon, about 30 km from Wroclaw.

Bar, drinks, and a swing over the city

The observation deck also includes a bar. Be prepared for the “mountain surcharge” to apply even in a skyscraper.

  • Prices: An average drink costs around 60 PLN (about €14). Is it a lot? Yes. Is it worth the feeling of sitting with a drink in hand and looking down at people like ants? Definitely yes. But you don’t have to buy a drink.
  • Free bonus: Inside, you’ll find a stylish swing. It’s positioned so that photos from it look like you’re swinging right over an abyss. It’s a great ‘Insta-spot’ and is free for visitors.

Outdoor terrace: Fresh air at 200 metres

If you’re not afraid of the wind, make sure to visit the outdoor terrace as well. It offers a slightly different perspective and, most importantly, the chance to take photos without glass reflections (if you find a good angle).

Important notice: The entire area, including the outdoor terrace, is strictly non-smoking. I assume this is due to fire regulations at such a height. So, save your cigarette (or e-cigarette) for when you’re back on the ground.

How to get there (Practical info on transport)

We chose to travel from the city centre (from Rynek) by tram. It’s the simplest and cheapest way.

  • Trams: Lines 2, 6, 7, 24 stop at the “Wielka” stop. From there, it’s about a 20-second walk.
  • Paying for public transport: Wroclaw has a great system. You get on the tram, find the terminal, select the ticket type, and tap your payment card (or Apple/Google Pay).
  • Attention: The terminal does not print a paper ticket. Your card serves as proof. If a ticket inspector comes, you just tap your card on their reader. It’s modern and ecological.

Where to buy tickets for Sky Tower Wroclaw

We opted for purchasing through the official provider on GetYourGuide here. The Sky Tower sells tickets directly here, and compared to buying on-site, you’re guaranteed that your chosen day is accounted for. If your plans change, you can request a full refund up to 24 hours before your selected date.

You’ll have your ticket available in your email and the GetYourGuide app, even offline.

  • Adult approx. 53 PLN / 13 EUR
  • Children aged 3-17 approx. 40 PLN / 9 EUR
  • Children under 2 are free

Where to stay: Sleep among the clouds or nearby?

If you want to make the most of your visit to Wrocław, I recommend considering accommodation directly in the building. It’s an unforgettable experience.

1. Sky Tower Apartments – In The Sky (Premium choice)

These are apartments located right in the tower. Verča and I agreed that it’s worth every zloty for at least two nights. In the morning, you wake up, pull back the curtains, and morning mist hovers over the city below you.

2. Alternatives nearby (Reasonable price/performance ratio)

If you don’t want to pay premium prices for Sky Tower accommodation but wish to be nearby:

  • Novotel Wrocław Centrum: A standard that does not disappoint. Located right across the street.
  • Wyndham Wroclaw Old Town: Newly renovated large hotel at a great price and excellent location if you want to explore Wroclaw’s centre and don’t mind walking (or taking a tram) to the Sky Tower.

Common mistakes to avoid

  1. Buying tickets on site: It’s often sold out for several hours in advance on weekends. Buy online via GetYourGuide.
  2. Visiting in fog: If it’s “milk” outside, you won’t see anything from the observation deck. Check the forecast or webcam before buying tickets.

Verdict: Is Sky Tower worth it?

Absolutely yes. Although the Sky Tower is a modern skyscraper that might seem out of place with historical Wrocław, the experience from 200 metres up is unique.

For me and Verča, the lift ride with a projection and the subsequent relaxation on the swing overlooking the entire city was the highlight of our April trip. If you have the budget, pay extra for accommodation directly in the building – the moment you watch the city lights from your bed on the 40th floor at night is indescribable.

Who is it for?

  • For couples on a romantic getaway.
  • For photographers seeking the best panorama.
  • For lovers of modern architecture.

Who is it not for?

  • For people with an extreme fear of heights (the glass walls are really everywhere).
  • For those who only seek the “ancient” atmosphere of the city.

A few things we never skip on any trip

  • Accommodation: only trusted platforms with real reviews – Booking.com and Agoda. Loyalty programs often get us a better price or an upgrade.
  • A car on the spot: when we cannot do without one, we compare rentals on DiscoverCars. We mostly watch the excess and the fuel policy.
  • First-aid kit: we always pack basic medicines – abroad they are pricey or hard to find.
  • Travel insurance: we arrange it before every trip, usually through our bank.
  • Tickets & experiences: booked online in advance via GetYourGuide – all in one place and available offline, no printing needed.
  • Food & restaurants: we check reviews on TripAdvisor first and book a table when possible.
