Spa Hotel in Poland: Bergo Resort in Szklarska Poręba (Review)
Author Veronika VrátnáSeptember 30, 2026
It’s two o’clock in the afternoon and we’re in the car park in front of the hotel in Szklarska Poręba. Daniel and I get out of the car and look around – Czech number plates, more Czech number plates, and then some more Czech number plates. Not that it surprised us. It’s only about 15 minutes’ drive from the Harrachov–Jakuszyce border crossing. And honestly? The Poles really know their spas.
For a weekend for two, Daniel and I chose Bergo Resort & Spa – a hotel with unlimited spa access, a pool and an outdoor hot tub with a view of the forest. We stayed one night, 27 to 28 September 2026, on half board. We paid for the stay ourselves and we have no partnership with the hotel. In this article you’ll find everything we wanted to know before the trip: how parking works, whether they’ll let you check in early, what exactly the spa includes, how much we paid and whether the hotel deserves its stars.
Where: ul. Okrzei 17, Szklarska Poręba, 15 min / 9.6 km by car from the Harrachov–Jakuszyce border crossing
What we paid: 3,200 CZK (about €130) for one night for two (Superior room, Sunday to Monday night, 27–28 September 2026, booked through Booking), with half board and unlimited spa access
Stars: officially 5*, in our view more of an honest 4* – guest rating on Booking 9.0/10
Parking: free in the outdoor car park in front of the hotel; only the second, fenced car park next to the hotel charges
Check-in / check-out: from 4pm / until 11am – but they let us into our room shortly after 3pm
Pool and hot tub: Mon–Sat 9am–11pm, Sun 9am–9pm; 16+ only after 9pm (bergohotel.pl)
Saunas: Finnish, infrared and steam, 16+ (younger children only with an adult)
Watch out: all packages include unlimited spa access, it just doesn’t show up on Booking for every offer
Bergo Resort & Spa: five stars or four?
Let’s settle this right at the start. On Booking and on its own website the hotel has five stars. And we won’t lie to you – it isn’t a five-star. But a four-star? Guaranteed!
What was missing for five stars? At a five-star hotel I expect someone to help me with my luggage, show me around and park the car. None of that happened here – and it wasn’t even busy – reception was quiet. Everything else, meaning the room, the food and above all the spa, was of a very high standard.
It isn’t a five-star. But it’s an honest four-star with a better-than-average spa, no doubt about it.
Guests see it much the same way, by the way: on Booking the hotel scores 9.0 from 2,049 reviews (as of 29 September 2026), and the lowest sub-score (8.8) goes to value for money.
Getting there and parking
The hotel has two car parks. One is right in front of the hotel and it’s free. The other, fenced car park is right next to the hotel and you pay to use it. On its website the hotel also lists an underground garage at 60 zł (about €15) a day – but we didn’t find it. The price of paid parking also differs across the hotel’s website, at 35–60 zł (about €8.70–15) a day, so you’re better off checking the current price at reception.
Our tip: only worry about the paid car park if you can’t find a space in front of the hotel. We parked in front of the hotel and it was no problem. The car park is neatly marked out and only guests use it. Just bear in mind that the hotel doesn’t guarantee a free space, and under its parking rules the car park is not guarded.
Can you check in early?
Officially, check-in is from 4pm. But you can try your luck, just as we did. We arrived at 2pm and shortly after 3pm our room was already ready. In the meantime we popped into the hotel restaurant for a drink and some chips. It isn’t guaranteed, of course, but asking costs nothing.
The room: as big as our living room
We had a Superior room and it was huge. Honestly – as big as our living room and kitchen put together. For me it was maybe even too much space for a hotel room. But when I imagine arriving with children, toys and play mats, it suddenly makes sense. Nobody feels cramped here.
In the room, bathrobes, slippers and towels for the spa were waiting for us. And this is a detail I fell in love with: you take the lift to the spa straight from the corridor by your room. So you don’t have to walk through reception in your bathrobe.
The spa: balm for the soul
This is the reason most people come here – and we were no exception. The spa is unlimited for hotel guests and you’ll find:
Indoor pool with a glass wall and a view of the forest
For me the outdoor hot tub with the forest view was the clear winner. It isn’t private, it holds roughly 12 people – and I think that’s exactly how many of us were in it at once. Nobody was squashed, though. We had a look at the gym and it didn’t look bad at all. But we didn’t work out, you understand – we were on holiday 🙂

Treatments at BERG SPA
On the same floor there’s a dedicated treatment area – four treatment rooms, one of them for couples. We were only here for one night, so we didn’t use them. To give you an idea: a classic full-body massage costs 350–390 zł (about €87–97), a hot candle massage 360 zł (about €89) and the children’s “chocolate” spa 160 zł (about €40). On Booksy treatments are often on offer for up to 20% less. You can book through Booksy or by phone on +48 75 303 10 20.
Food: half board with something for everyone
The hotel restaurant is one big room divided into two parts and it serves a buffet dinner and breakfast. It really is a big space – we never felt crowded anywhere.
We had half board, and both dinner and breakfast were buffets with a similar selection: hams, cheeses and fish. Daniel was especially delighted with the fish – there were several kinds, each flavoured differently. For dinner there were also hot dishes, meat and salads, and for breakfast eggs, several kinds of sausages and sweet things.
They think a lot about children here: at both dinner and breakfast the kids had their own children’s corner with food, where they can bake their own waffles. In the morning it also had cereal, milk, honey and cake slices.
What it costs
For a Superior room for two on the Sunday to Monday night (27–28 September 2026) – with half board and unlimited spa access – we paid Booking 3,200 CZK (about €130). The price varies a lot by day, though, and is higher at weekends.
One thing to WATCH OUT for, though: unlimited spa access wasn’t mentioned at all in our Booking offer. We checked by phone – they include the spa in every package, it just doesn’t show up on Booking for every offer. If you’re not sure, call reception (+48 75 303 10 00) and save yourself the stress.
To give you an idea of how prices move on Booking (2 people, cheapest available room, as of 29 September 2026):
Date
Price per night
Tuesday 20 October 2026
from €171 (with breakfast and dinner €203)
Saturday 24 October 2026
from €270 with breakfast (with breakfast and dinner €285–290)
⭐ TOP CHOICE✓ WE STAYED HERE📍 ul. Okrzei 17
Bergo Resort & Spa
A hotel with unlimited spa access, an indoor pool and an outdoor hot tub with a view of the forest, 15 minutes from Harrachov. Free parking in front of the hotel, half board as a buffet.
Why there are so many Czechs here (and what to do nearby)
Szklarska Poręba isn’t just a short hop from the Czech border, it appeals to families with children too – right in town there’s a rope park called Trollandia. We haven’t been there, but on the way we saw a big summer toboggan run, so there’s no shortage of fun for kids.
Trollandia – rope park
Trollandia is a rope park in the town centre, on ul. Jedności Narodowej, about a 15-minute walk from the hotel. It has five routes, for children from age 3, from age 6 and from age 8. One route costs 48 zł / about €12 (44 zł / about €11 for under-16s) and the mini park for children up to 13 costs 38 zł / about €9.40 (price list). From May to September it’s open daily 10am–6pm; in April, October and November on Fridays noon–6pm and at weekends 10am–6pm.
Kamieńczyk Waterfall – where Narnia was filmed
Just 7 minutes by car from the hotel (2.8 km) is the car park at the Kamieńczyk waterfall, from where you can walk to it. It’s a 27-metre triple waterfall, the tallest in the Polish Giant Mountains (Karkonosze). And a heads-up for fans: scenes from the film The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian!
were shot in its gorge. The waterfall lies in the Polish Giant Mountains National Park, so expect to pay for two tickets: park entry is 11 zł (about €2.70) and gorge entry 16 zł (about €4), and children under 7 get both free (kpn.gov.pl). In October the ticket office is open 9am–4pm, and from November to March on weekdays only until 3pm.
Chairlift up Szrenica
If you have more time, you can take the chairlift up Szrenica straight from town. A return trip on one section costs 61 zł (about €15) for an adult and 39 zł (about €9.70) for a child, and both sections 74/55 zł (about €18/€14) – the price list is valid until 25 October 2026 and changes after that. National park entry isn’t included in the price.

⭐ TOP CHOICE📍 ul. Wojska Polskiego 11
Czarny Kamień Resort & SPA
Aparthotel by the forest with two pools (indoor and, in summer, outdoor), hot tubs and saunas included in the price. Apartments with a kitchenette, free parking, the best rated of our selection.
you want a spa weekend for two close to the Czech border – from Harrachov it’s just a quarter of an hour away
you’re travelling with children: big rooms, paddling pool, children’s corner at the buffet, Kids Club and games room
you don’t want to think about food – with half board there’s really something for everyone
you’re bringing a dog: for 70 zł a day (about €17) your dog can come into the hotel and the restaurant, just not the spa (dog rules)
Bergo isn’t for you if:
you expect five-star service – don’t expect help with your luggage, a tour of the hotel or someone to park your car
you’re looking for an adults-only spa – the hotel thinks a lot about families, and until 9pm the pool and hot tub belong to children too
you want a private hot tub – the outdoor one is shared, even though it’s spacious
you want shops and cafés within walking distance – there aren’t many around the hotel
you’d rather not weave through town by car – the hotel is reached along narrow one-way streets
Our verdict
Bergo Resort & Spa gave us exactly what we went for: to rest, eat well and flop into a hot tub with a view of the forest. At 3,200 CZK (about €130) a night for two with half board and unlimited spa access, we think it’s very fair value for money. Don’t expect five-star service, but do expect comfort and a great spa.
We recommend it above all for a short weekend for two or with children. And before you book, check that the spa is included in the price, especially if you can’t see it in the Booking offer.

A few things we never skip on any trip
Accommodation: only trusted platforms with real reviews – Booking.com and Agoda. Loyalty programs often get us a better price or an upgrade.
A car on the spot: when we cannot do without one, we compare rentals on DiscoverCars. We mostly watch the excess and the fuel policy.
First-aid kit: we always pack basic medicines – abroad they are pricey or hard to find.
Travel insurance: we arrange it before every trip, usually through our bank.
Tickets & experiences: booked online in advance via GetYourGuide – all in one place and available offline, no printing needed.
Food & restaurants: we check reviews on TripAdvisor first and book a table when possible.
New Port Krakow review: floating apartments on the Vistula with a terrace and a view of Wawel. How we slept, what breakfast costs, where to park and what we paid.
I've compiled everything we wished we knew before our first trip into this article: where to stay in Wroclaw, what not to miss, how much money to bring, and how to avoid the mistakes we made ourselves. If, like me, you're a fan of animals, water, and high-up views, this city will win you over just like it did us.
Even though we waited ten minutes for the dragon's flame, which lasted one second – we still returned there a second time because around the statue is the most beautiful view of Wawel and the Vistula in all of Krakow. That's exactly what Krakow is all about, and not just about this.
